Meet Birch & Bramble: Behind the Whiskers of Our Cattery

Every cattery has a story. Ours begins with the cats who made everyday life a little fuller, a little funnier and much more meaningful. Welcome to Birch & Bramble Cattery, where our love of British Shorthairs grew into a commitment to raising companions with care.

This blog is a place to get to know us beyond a kitten photograph or a show update. We want to share the personalities behind our name, the attention behind our routines and the experiences that continue to shape our journey.

Two unforgettable cats behind our name

Bubba was our first cat when we started the cattery, and he remains an important part of our story. With his silver shaded coat and calm nature, he inspired the “Birch” side of our identity: a reflection of his soft silver shimmer and the affection we associate with him.

Okinawa, our chocolate British Shorthair boy, brings a different presence. His rich colouring and bold appearance inspired “Bramble,” representing strength and elegance. Together, the two cats helped give our cattery a name that felt personal.

British Shorthairs, Beautifully Raised

Our tagline, “British Shorthairs, Beautifully Raised,” expresses what we want our work to stand for. Beautiful coats and expressive faces may catch someone’s attention, but the care behind a companion matters just as much to us.

We focus on the everyday work of raising cats: attentive observation, familiar routines, gentle interaction and an environment with opportunities for play and rest. Our cats have individual preferences, and learning those preferences is one of the most rewarding parts of caring for them.

We are based in Rizal, Philippines, and our cattery is WCF registered. We also share our journey through events, show experiences and conversations with the wider feline community. Each experience gives us something to reflect on as we continue developing our cattery.

The ordinary moments matter

Much of life with cats happens between the photographs. There are bowls to clean, bedding to wash, supplies to organise and favourite toys to find again. There are also quiet moments when a cat chooses to settle nearby or turns an ordinary household task into entertainment.
